Sometimes it’s just very challenging to assume responsibility for a project that has a tight deadline and very high demands in terms of performance and technologies that need to be used. We said yes at the time and we managed to completely support or customer from Merkur Media but this was by far one of the biggest challenges we took over so far.

Ascendro was the only reliable provider that took on the challenge of delivering a highly performant application in a 2 weeks time frame. In this time, we rewritten and optimized significant parts of the existing PHP application, we added a node.js part in order to take over the high amount of requests and we have enhanced the interfaces for Android and IOS. The customer needed an immediate solution to make his application reliable for a high load of users because the marketing campaign was successful and it was very likely that lots of participants attended the TV-smartphone show. It is very important to mention that with 2 weeks before the first big event the customer had an application that could barely handle a few hundreds users instead of a few thousands.

Our team met the goals by 100%, even though it was almost impossible given the time we had. Our solution could not only hold the required load of 10.000 parallel users but was even able to work correctly while handling 800.000 requests per second.

Technologies

We master advanced JavaScript frameworks that help us deliver reliable and high performance solutions. We have used the following technologies for Merkur Media project:

  • Zend Framework and LAMP stack for custom development.
  • Balsamiq for wireframes within the product discovery phase.
  • Graphic design, User Experience and User Interface creation for the best look and feel.
  • HTML, Css, jQuery and Responsive design for graphic design integrations.
  • Selenium IDE for browser automate testing.
  • Redmine as a project management and communication tool.
  • Jenkins for continuous integration and automated deployments.

We use a collaborative and transparent approach for each project. Our customers have full access to our project management tool Redmine so they can easily track their project status and progress.
